Thriving with herpes
A therapy group for men and women with genital herpes

In the United States an estimated 40 to 50 million people are infected with genital herpes. For many people, having herpes carries a tremendous stigma, and can have a significant impact on their self-image, self-esteem and relational functioning. Depression, anxiety, shame, guilt, anger, loneliness, fear, and hopelessness often accompany the diagnosis. Such feelings can often make it difficult for people to seek adequate information, help, and support.

Peter Roussos, M.A., LMFT, offers a private and confidential psychotherapy group for men and women who have genital herpes. The group offers participants an opportunity to work through the psychological impact of having genital herpes. Participants are able to connect with other people dealing with the diagnosis, and in a safe and therapeutic environment, are able to gain information, and explore their thoughts and feelings about the illness and what it means for them. The group is an opportunity for participants to learn to come to terms with genital herpes, and how to live life fully as someone who has it.
